Pathway Aquiline Academy

Hope- Growth -Strength

Aquiline-"Like an Eagle"

The Eagle does not escape the storm. The Eagle simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It spreads its mighty wings and rises on the winds that bring the storm.”

– Jack White

"They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint".

-Isaiah 40:31

Philosophy

Our Mission

PWAA is a STAD(skills training and development) year round program offering the ability for students to receive their education through Braintree Academy with the support of staff to decrease behavioral issues. This program is a highly structured environment providing nurturing and safety as our biggest priority.  will be primarily done without the use of electronics as this decreases temptation of any student to engage in maladaptive activities that does not support positive mental health and growth. Our goal is to create a learning environment that balances academics and therapeutic interventions.

Our Approach

We will utilize many different learning approaches and a variety of hands on activities.  Topics relate  to real life, life skills, transferrable skills and are realistic and non-threatening. Students will have the opportunity for extracurricular classes to work on life skills including but not limited to sewing, cooking, budgeting, meal planning, career planning, appropriate use of electronics, empathy building opportunities on animal rescues. Students will complete feelings journals daily, exercise 30-60 minutes, have an hour long lunch to learn  about proper digestion, learn table setting, appropriate conversations throughout lunch, guided activities to encourage communication, friendship building and how to navigate difficult interactions with others. Because we are a year round program, we are able  to focus on life skills and behavioral management to meet your child's or children's needs. With the flexibility of PWAA, families will be able to complete school on vacation or play “catch up” when home because their school goes with them. Staff with PWAA will never take the role of the parent and parents will work closely with staff to ensure needs are reasonable and realistic for each student. Here we value our parents/families and everything we do will be to facilitate healthy relationships and growth.

Meals

Here members are provided with  nutritious meals if their family prefers. Members will receive a high protein, low carb breakfast and/or lunch consisting of a protein, small carb, fruit and vegetable. They may participate in snack time as well provided their family is alright with this.  They are not allowed to have caffeine, sugar, red dye, MSGs/GMOs and are taught how to create nutritional meals even on a budget. Many members LOVE to experiment with food!

All in One Curriculum

PWAA utilizes the homeschool program "All in One Curriculum." They are a completely portfolio based(no electronic) program.   They follow our program amazingly and allow us to use minimal electronics. This platform encourages a project based, whole brain child approach implementing a wide variety of opportunities and experiences to make learning fun!  This program also allows us flexibility with schedules and encourages family time, being able to move up grade level quicker in some areas and remain at or below grade level(depending on needs) in others.  With this program your child(ren) have the opportunity to learn at their pace and engage in areas they are interested in. We use interventions alongside our STAD program to provide your child and/or children with an amazing opportunity to learn and grow in every way!  Members are given an opportunity to complete their work in a "job" like fashion with requirements teaching them responsibility, integrity, accountability, and perseverance when things are hard. We have tutors and other staff that help meet each child's individual needs on an educational and therapeutic level.  We are a year round program offering a variety of life skill training and experiences throughout the year!

Learning Environment

Children participating in PWAA STAD Program will work on behavioral modification for issues related to severe emotional disturbances, severe anxiety, issues in mainstream public school setting or just need a different environment to be successful. Members will be safe guarded from many of the issues facing our youth in schools and communities today while being provided with a unique opportunity designed especially for them! We strive to create an environment for our kids where they feel safe, empowered and strong! It is important to us these children feel prepared for their futures and feel connected to their surroundings.  We don't accept an "I Can't" because WE CAN! We are a team and we approach each excitement and trial as one.  We encourage each other, work to understand each other's experiences and how these shape our lives and those around us.  It is not uncommon to find students helping one another, nor is it uncommon for students to be leading a class.  These are important life skills as well as confidence building.

Activities

PWAA offers hands on experiences, opportunities  to engage in learning about, potential to take college classes in high school.  During the Summer children continue their academics for part of the day with the incorporated behavioral guidance from staff; and in the afternoon they have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities to promote independence, understanding social interactions, understanding themselves better and engaging with peers and society in a healthy manner.  This program allows children to feel part of something and helps them learn they are important! We have a "cross country team" that meets to run throughout our community and trails regularly, we have community members that allow us to participate in Equine Therapy, hiking, fishing, budgeting, cooking, peer ran groups and many more experiences!

Cost

PWAA is a STAD program meaning for members of Medicaid, YES Program and Katie Beckett this program is entirely free!

If you would like to participate and do not qualify for the insurances above cost is $400.00/month which averages to about $20.00/day.
